It’s all too common to feel disconnected and forgotten if your face isn’t being seen around the office. Many remote workers experience a loss of influence on decision making.

However, it is quite possible to grow and strengthen your professional network and influence remotely. It requires a proactive, disciplined approach to engaging with key people in ways that build trust, contacts and visibility.

This programme helps you consider a range of strategies for building your professional network even when face-to-face contact isn’t possible.


Session purpose

A strong network of professional contacts is one of the most useful of business assets. Well networked people tend to advance more quickly and have a greater impact in their roles than their less well connected colleagues.

This session develops participants’ ability to build and maintain a useful network of contacts even when they are not able to meet people in person. This makes it ideal for remote workers and those who are part of dispersed or virtual teams.

The programme builds participants’ skills and confidence to identify and seek out useful contacts, build relationships and maintain contact over time. It focuses on the quality – not quantity – of contacts, and on building trusting, mutually beneficial relationships.

Session outcomes

During this fully interactive virtual session you will:

  • Appreciate the importance of building and maintaining your professional profile
  • Identify the key players in your professional network, and their role in helping you to build your profile
  • Develop strategies to build relationships with your key players
  • Learn tried and tested techniques that overcome the barriers of limited face-to-face contact
  • Be able to implement your new skills immediately

Course format

This is a live training session held online and facilitated by one of our expert consultants for a group of up to 15 delegates.

Using a web based interface freely available to anyone with access to the internet, delegates are able to see, hear and interact with the trainer and other participants.The programme combines elements of teaching, discussion and practical sessions.

Delegates receive an electronic course manual for reference after the programme ends.
