Managers of remote workers need to ensure their team is working efficiently, happily and to a shared agenda whilst team members work independently, without supervision and without regular face-to-face contact.

The Managing Remote Workers training course provides managers of remote teams with a toolkit of techniques for strengthening relationships within their team, and maintaining motivation, engagement and shared goals.

Session purpose

The purpose of this course is to provide those who manage remote workers with a set of techniques for managing productivity and relationships within their team without the benefit of regular in-person contact.

It offers managers of remote workers the opportunity to identify and discuss the key challenges involved in managing at a distance, as well as providing insights into those faced by the team members themselves.

Delegates will learn how to use a results oriented approach to managing remote workers, devising clear objectives that help to bring focus and accountability to their teams. They will also discover a range of tools to help build and maintain positive relationships without the benefit of regular face-to-face contact.

Session outcomes

By the end of this course you will:

  • Appreciate the benefits and difficulties of managing remote workers
  • Recognise the concerns and challenges faced by remote team members
  • Learn to harness the power of objective setting to motivate your team and measure performance
  • Be able to write useable and measurable objectives for remote workers, and provide meaningful feedback based on achievement
  • Discover strategies to strengthen relationships with individual team members
  • Discover techniques to build relationships across the team

Course format

This is a live and fully interactive training session with low delegate numbers to ensure plenty of opportunities for asking questions and discussing experiences. It is held online and facilitated by one of our expert consultants.

Using a web based interface freely available to anyone with access to the internet, delegates are able to see, hear and interact with the trainer and other participants.The programme combines elements of teaching, discussion and practical sessions.

Delegates receive an electronic course manual for reference after the programme ends.

Who is this course for?

Anyone who manages people they do not regularly meet face-to-face. These could be home workers, workers at other sites, or mobile workers.
